In this course we will be looking at herbs in depth, basically Materia Medica (a Latin medical term for the body of collected knowledge about the therapeutic properties of any substance used for healing, what we would call a drug)

Dipaunka on Herbal Medicine

I have a deep Passion to teach as many people as I can, all over the World, about using Herbs in their daily Lives to maintain Health and Prevent dis - ease. To take away preconceptions that using herbs is difficult or requires lots of preparation.

Herbal Medicine is as old as man himself. Plants have been used from prehistoric times down through the ages for food, healing, givers of knowledge and shelter.  Ancient Herbalists  were also known as Apothecary's / Apothecaries.

Instinct and generations of trial and error have led us to where we are and what we know today about herbs . To me, Herbs are a source of healing and enhancement on many levels, physical, mental, emotional, spiritual. They contain many vitamins , minerals, nutrients, hormones and chemicals which our bodies can utilises. They also are Living Entities with personalities of their own . Their energies interface with ours and they also can speak to us in a language long forgotten. We have many receptor sites in our brains and bodies for the multiple and varied chemicals that Plant Helpers contain.

If we listen clearly we can be told exactly which plants/ herbs we need for our healing and which herbs to use with each other. The learning never stops . I find in my clinic practice , in my herb garden and when manufacturing , new things about herbs that are not recorded in any text books , and knowledge that cannot be taught by anyone , only Experienced. This is one reason I do not run online Herbal Courses. I feel that herbal medicine in all it's facets and complexities, is a very experiential process and needs to be a hands on learning undertaking .

David Hoffman, whom I have met and briefly studied with sums it up in the title of his most popular book - “The Wholistic Herbal."
